Banksy
(1984 – )
Banksy made a name in the fine art world through his graffiti street art. Originating in the streets of the United Kingdom and now renowned throughout the world, this elusive graffiti artist is creating gallery-worthy fine art.
As both an artist and an activist, Banksy combines traditional graffiti artwork with stenciling to promote various socio-political causes. Banksy’s art portrays his perspective on the issues, expressed in stencils on both canvas and outdoor buildings. These works include “Criminal Rats” and “Trapdoors”, as well as other artistic interpretations of current social justice issues.
Banksy’s artwork can be viewed in locations ranging from the streets of London to Los Angeles, with works on display in the Tate Museum and New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art.
