George Rodrigue
(August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987)
ACXchange is looking to purchase artworks from George Rodrigue, the artist best known for the Louisiana Cajun Country-influenced “Blue Dog” series, which was based upon the Rodrigue family’s own dog, Tiffany.
Rodrigue started his career as an artist painting the Cajun landscapes he grew up surrounded by. George Rodrigue’s early artwork depicted a soon-to-be-lost era of Cajun culture within bayou landscapes in abstract expressionist form.
George Rodrigue’s claim to fame stems chiefly from his creation of the “Blue Dog” image. Not long after the original “Blue Dog” painting was made public, the image became almost instantly iconic, appearing in advertising ranging from Absolut Vodka to Xerox Corporation.
